Frank Difficult Presents Festival 2013
Days 1 & 2
Monday 9/23 & Tuesday 9/24
Open casting for Difficult Tales screentests, filmed live at 95 Empire Black Box. 95 Empire St. Downtown Providence. Next to AS220.
Difficult Tales is an anthology webseries of short films of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. Created by filmmaker and sound artist Frank Difficult, the show will span psychedelic gothic horror, pop-art space action and Lovecraftian terrors. We are currently shooting more improvised test footage to try out ideas and to find more potential cast and crew. This will take place in front of a rear projection screen to give us access to unlimited virtual sets composited in real time. To get an idea what to expect, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37MoT_FWKOc or https://vimeo.com/62682591 Some of the footage will be eventually turned into a full tale for the series with some additional shooting at a later date.
To add to the chaos, filming with include a live soundtrack created by Mr. Difficult and many area musicians. Footage will be edited with the sounds created on set and screened Saturday night 9/28 at 10pm.
If you are interested in being filmed, please email up at info at difficulttales.com and tell us which day and time you are available. We ask all participants to bring some choices of costume you feel comfortable in wearing. You are also encouraged to bring some sort of prop. The filming will be totally improvised based on costuming, props and backgrounds being used. Filming will last anywhere from 15 – 30 minutes per set up depending on how many participants we have to get to.
Filming will take place in the first floor Black Box space with costuming and make-up upstairs in the 2nd Floor and down in the basement. We ask you first to report into the Black Box.
There is no compensation for this, but you will get footage and stills that you may use for your portfolio and demo reel.

a tribute to some of the wildest independent filmmakers out there.
Providence Premiere of Damon Packard’s Foxfur plus selected shorts.
“Foxfur” is about a disturbed young girl and her travails who is gradually transformed into a female Robin Hood. It’s about things like conflicting realities, belief systems and extraterrestrials but essentially I think it’s mostly about ‘The Dead Zone,’ which is the “proposed” period we’re in now. The strange time where everything has reached a brick wall and is recycling itself, turning in circles, desperately cannibalizing itself for even a modicum of inspiration. It’s an end of the world within the end of the world, a “schism” of reality that occurred after 1982, which on Dec 21, 1982 at 11;11am is when the world really came to end.
Since then we’ve been living on the residual fumes of the cosmos, diminishing more and more as the years pass. And now as reality collapses in on itself, it is being replaced. Which is why things are so polarized and convoluted; no-one knows what to think about anything and/or they are experiencing what seems like an ENTIRELY different reality. There are literally two realities now folding over each other in conflict and the new reality is a completely artificial construct.
